Who is Precision Scientific Instruments (PSi™)?
Precision Scientific Instruments Inc. (PSi℠) is a Delaware C Corp and the sole manufacturer of the PSi1™, a breakthrough metrology (measurement) system that will reliably study sub-nano materials with up to 50 times greater resolution than atomic force and scanning tunneling microscopes. This proprietary technology will enable scientists working with universities, medical centers, government contractors and commercial manufacturers to study and develop cutting-edge materials used to miniaturize high-demand, high-profit products such as semi-conductors, medical devices and hardware for the space and defense industry.
The PSi’s Management Team has extensive experience in state-of-the-art metrology research, electronics manufacturing services (EMS) and semiconductor sales.
What is the PSi1™?
The PSi1℠ is PSi’s breakthrough patented metrology* device that will allow scientists working with corporations, research institutions and the government to study sub-nanometer materials. As scientists and manufacturers seek to further miniaturize devices and develop new advanced materials, it will become even more critical to research the behavior of a single atom or sub-nanometer structures.
PSi’s PSi1℠ Multi-Functional Sub-Nanometer Metrology System can be customized for research and development programs that are used to advance computer technology for satellite communications and medical devices. The PSi1℠ system includes:
- A probe assembly for forming single atom samples
- Custom electronics and data acquisition hardware
- Project-specific, upgradable software
- A customized isolation chamber
*Metrology is the precise study of the physical properties of materials used extensively in the development of advanced materials, development of semi-conductors with greater storage capacity, smaller medical devices/implants and lightweight hardware for the space and defense industry
How can researchers and manufacturers benefit from the PSi1™ ?
The goal of most manufacturers is to develop smaller, lighter, and more powerful products, but a better understanding of how materials behave as they approach the atomic scale is required in order for manufacturers to continue this trend.
Although the goal of all high-technology manufacturers is to develop smaller, lighter and less expensive products, existing commercial metrology technologies are not suited to study the next generation of sub-nano materials.
The PSi1℠ system will allow manufacturers the unprecedented ability to conduct materials research at the sub-nano level in order to develop and market smaller, lighter, stronger and more cost effective materials.
Who is PSI’s Target Market?
Any corporation, institution or scientist that is engaged in research related to the study of existing materials, nano materials or the design of new materials is a potential customer of PSi™.
On an annual basis, more than $10 Billion is spent globally to research and commercialize nano materials used to miniaturize products such as semi-conductors, medical devices and hardware for the space and defense industry.
The PSi1℠ system is targeted to become available in 2014. The PSi1℠ system will include custom hardware, software, support services, consumables and technology upgrades.
Who is on PSI’s Management Team?
PSi’s Management Team is led by Founder, President and CEO, Gerry Murak. Murak also serves as President and CEO of SoPark Corporation, Western New York’s largest electronics manufacturing service (EMS) provider that specializes in launching custom electronic products into production with scalability through legacy. SoPark is ISO 9001-2008, AS9100C and ISO 13485 certified and ITAR compliant. PSi is located within the SoPark’s facility; a critical factor in both the vertical integration of electronics and product assembly of the PSi1℠ system.
Four of the five members of the PSi Management Team have worked together at SoPark to strategically grow the company over the last five years. The PSi Management Team includes:
- Gerry Murak, MS, MBA – Founder President & CEO
- Dr. Jason Armstrong – Co-Inventor & Translational Researcher
- Rupa Shanmugam, BS Electrical Engineering – VP of Operations
- Joseph Miano – VP of Sales (30+ yrs of electronic component sales)
- John Kasperek – MBA Finance VP of Financial Control
PSi’s Scientific Team is comprised of the three subject matter experts in the University at Buffalo Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department who invented the PSi1℠ technology:
